On January 17, 2019, an open lecture entitled “Financial Markets and the Albanian Securities Exchange (ALSE)” was held at the premises of the University “Aleksandër Moisiu” Durrës (UAMD). The event was attended by members of the university’s academic and scientific staff, as well as students from the Faculty of Integrated Studies with Practice (FASTIP) and the Faculty of Business.
The Executive Director of the Albanian Securities Exchange (ALSE), Mr. Artan Gjergji, focused on the prospects for the development of the capital market and the securities exchange in Albania. Mr. Gjergji also informed participants about the opportunities and procedures available to investors seeking to invest through ALSE.
Participants showed considerable interest in the functioning of the ALSE and raised a number of questions, primarily concerning the issuance of corporate bonds through private and public offerings, the licensing and membership requirements for financial intermediaries on the Stock Exchange, as well as the costs and benefits for brokerage firms.
As part of ALSE’s ongoing financial education initiative, discussions were held with the university rectorate regarding further institutional and academic cooperation between ALSE and the two faculties of the University “Aleksandër Moisiu” Durrës: FASTIP and the Faculty of Business.
