The Bank of Albania
The Bank of Albania (BoA) is the regulatory and supervisory body of the banking system, being the institution that licenses, monitors and supervises the second-tier banks and a certain group of non-banking financial institutions. As second tier banks are important players in the securities industry (mainly in the government debt securities market), the BoA is considered to be a key regulatory institution in the securities industry, in terms of allowing banks to exercise their business in this industry as well as to oversee their exposure to portfolio investments.
